On May 20th, 2013 the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry announced that The University of Melbourne's School of Botany will host the new Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis (CEBRA), a research initiative jointly funded by the Australian and New Zealand governments. CEBRA will be operational from 1 July 2013 until 30 June 2017, and replaces the Australian Centre of Excellence for Risk Analysis (ACERA), which The University of Melbourne has hosted since 2006, which ceased operations on 30 June 2013.
